Rob Mayer is a proven leader for southeast Missouri. He previously served four years as State Representative for District 159 (Cape Girardeau, Stoddard, and Wayne Counties) from 2000-2004. Elected to the Missouri Senate in 2004 and re-elected in 2008, Rob currently serves as President Pro Tem of the Senate. He was elected leader of the Senate unanimously on January 5, 2011. He also serves on the following committees: Administration, chairman; Gubernatorial Appointments, chairman; and Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions, and Ethics vice chairman.

Rob is a 1975 graduate of Dexter High School, received his undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Rob and his wife, Nancy (Tuley) Mayer, live in Dexter. They have three sons: Jason, Dustin and Daniel. In addition to his work in the Missouri Senate, Rob Mayer is an attorney and farmer. He has a background in broadcasting and also worked as an industrial engineering clerk.

Rob is active in many community and regional activities. He is a member of: the Dexter First Baptist Church, Missouri Farm Bureau, Dexter Chamber of Commerce, Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, the Stoddard County Bar and Missouri Bar Associations, Dexter Kiwanis Club, American-International Charolais Association, NRA, Stoddard County Gospel Mission Board, Missouri Delta Center Advisory Committee, and Missouri Veterans Home Foundation Board.
