Senator Rob Mayer is a proven leader for southeast Missouri. He previously served four years as State Representative for District 159 (Cape Girardeau, Stoddard, and Wayne Counties) from 2000-2004. Elected to the Missouri Senate in 2004, Senator Mayer chairs the Senate Interim Committee on Pandemic Preparedness and vice chair of the Senate Education Committee. He also serves on the following committees: Appropriations; Agriculture, Conservation, Parks and Natural Resources; Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight; Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jursiprudence; Joint Committee on Economic Development Policy and Planning; Joint Committee on Education; Joint Committee on Terrorism, Bioterrorism and Homeland Security; Senate Interim Committee on Title Insurance; and Special Committee to Investigate Medicaid Fraud. Senator Mayer is a 1975 graduate of Dexter High Senator Mayer is active in many community and regional activities. He is a member of: the Dexter First Baptist Church, Missouri Farm Bureau, Dexter Chamber of Commerce, Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, the Stoddard County Bar and Missouri Bar Associations, Dexter Kiwanis Club, American-International Charolais Association, NRA, Stoddard County Gospel Mission Board, Missouri Delta Center Advisory Committee, and Missouri Veterans Home Foundation Board. Senator Mayer has received the following awards in recognition of his work: Missouri Farm Bureau Friend of Agriculture Award 2002 and 2004, Missouri Police Chiefs' Legislator of the Year Award 2003, Missouri Sheriffs' Association Legislator of the Year Award 2003 and 2004, University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law Alumnus Award 2005, MO Community College Association’s Distinguished Legislator Award 2006, Voice of Missouri Business Award 2007. School, received his undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Rob and his wife, Nancy (Tuley) Mayer, live in Dexter. They have three sons: Jason, Dustin and Daniel. In addition to his work in the Missouri Senate, Rob Mayer is an attorney. He has a background in farming, broadcasting and also worked as an industrial engineering clerk.
